Who Are We?

The Sports Social Work Network (SSWN) is the light at the end of the tunnel, reaching into the darkness to uncover the tools that brighten every athlete’s path. SSWN connects Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) athletes from low socioeconomic backgrounds with mentorship, immersive career pathways, and research-informed support. We help athletes leverage their athletic identity to create sustainable, real-world success.

What is SSWN?

SSWN is a membership-based network designed to support the 90–98% of athletes who will not compete professionally. Through mentorship, career exploration immersions, internships, stipends, independent study opportunities, and campus chapter development, we create structured pathways for athletes to thrive beyond the game.

Our Mission

To empower BIPOC athletes from low-SES backgrounds to leverage their athletic identity into meaningful opportunities and long-term success beyond sport.
